The Blooming of the Lotus
for Professionals

A Special Introduction begins with the address Robin made to the Domestic Violence Task Force in Greenfield, MA, in March, 2016. “‘I Deserve’ and Resiliency” is followed by more information about the repercussions of being a survivor, as well as specific recommendations for therapists, healers, educators, medical professionals, judges, and other supporters of survivors.

The Foreword and Preface from the original book are included, as well as a grouping of poems that, though much abbreviated from the original, still gives a sense of the narrative of Robin's story and the progression of her healing journey.

Robin offers this book to you with the hope that it will shed light on what it means to be a survivor of childhood incest and/or sexual abuse, as well as provide insight on how you can help.

An excerpt from

"'
I Deserve' and Resiliency"

"I want to speak to you today about how childhood incest and abuse can deeply affect a woman’s life in all aspects—for herself and within the dynamics of all of her relationships. I then want to talk about what can help."

From Special Recommendations Section: "Recommendations
for Therapists and Healers"

"I offer my poems to you in whatever form feels appropriate to your modality of therapy. I would, however, like to suggest reading through the chapter titles in the Table of Contents of the original The Blooming of the Lotus: a spiritual journey from trauma into light. Reviewing these may prompt poems that resonate with your client, depending on which clinical phase she is experiencing.

"Many therapists have relayed to me that the reading of the first poem (prior to the Table of Contents) had a profound impact and resonance for their clients. These clients welcomed their therapists caring enough to read it. They felt more understood and recognized as having experienced the deepest levels of their pain.

"Therapists have stated that, for many of their clients, reading about someone else’s experience of healing from incest was greatly comforting and definitively facilitated their healing process.

"These therapists also emphasized that the reading of How to Use This Book... within the Foreword was particularly salient and helpful to a client’s individual journey of healing."
Robin is currently available for only very select speaking engagements, including readings, keynotes, lectures, and workshops.
